Kornél Mikecz

 

born in 1979 in Budapest. He began studying music and playing the piano  at the early age of eight,then at the age of twelve he was admitted to the Hungarian Radio Children’s Choir.

His musical education was continued at the St. Stephen's High School of Music, initially at the faculty of composing, later at the faculty of singing and solfege.

At the age of twenty-one was admitted to the Liszt Ferenc Academy of Music, where prof. Magda Nádor was his vocal teacher. Meanwhile,he started his studies in Vienna at the faculty of Song and Oratorio,led by  prof. Walter C. Moore Professor and  prof. Claudia Visca. He graduated  at Liszt Ferenc Academy of Music, at the faculty of singer and music teacher with summa cum laude in 2007.

 

His stage credits date back to a very young age, he already received his first small opera roles at the Conservatory.

Among his specialties we can find  contemporary music and music theater / opera genre, but he was also involved in the world of musicals, including the Dance of the Vampires Steimel Kunze-musical in which he was the leader of the ensemble as well.

 

 His main roles  are primarily  buffo characters  (Dandini, Figaro), but due to his  wide-ranging vocal abilities he is also a participant of modern plays, such as Krisztián Gergye’s Ice Cream Ballet, which is crossover of classic opera / alternative pop.

 

 He has worked together with many conductors and directors at home and abroad such as Iván Fischer, Ádám Medveczky Zoltán Bolyky, Róbert Alföldi, Krisztián Gergye Balázs Kovalik, György Böhm, András Jeles.

Unlike his colleagues he has been singing much in chamber ensembles, chamber concerts, giving many concerts of Schubert, Schumann, Brahms, Mahler's works over the years.

 

He has been a freelancer recently, besides being a solo singer, he is a temporary help in several professional choir ensembles, Music director at MAFILM dubbing studio.
